دربارهٔ کتاب

Reliable human authentication schemes are of paramount importance in our highly networked society. Advances in biometrics help address the myriad of problems associated with traditional human recognition methods. The performance and benefits of a biometric system can be significantly enhanced by consolidating the evidence presented by multiple biometric sources. Multibiometric systems are expected to meet the stringent performance requirements imposed by large-scale authentication systems. Although Face Recognition Has Been Actively Studied Over The Past Decade, The State-of-the-art Recognition Systems Yield Satisfactory Performance Only Under Controlled Scenarios. Recognition Accuracy Degrades Significantly When Confronted With Unconstrained Situations. Examples Of Unconstrained Conditions Include Illumination And Pose Variations, Video Sequences, Expression, Aging, And So On. Recently, Researchers Have Begun To Investigate Face Recognition Under Unconstrained Conditions That Is Referred To As Unconstrained Face Recognition. This Volume Provides A Comprehensive View Of Unconstrained Face Recognition, Especially Face Recognition From Multiple Still Images And/or Video Sequences, Assembling A Collection Of Novel Approaches Able To Recognize Human Faces Under Various Unconstrained Situations. The Underlying Basis Of These Approaches Is That, Unlike Conventional Face Recognition Algorithms, They Exploit The Inherent Characteristics Of The Unconstrained Situation And Thus Improve The Recognition Performance When Compared With Conventional Algorithms. Unconstrained Face Recognition Is Accessible To A Wide Audience With An Elementary Level Of Linear Algebra, Probability And Statistics, And Signal Processing. Unconstrained Face Recognition Is Designed Primarily For A Professional Audience Composed Of Practitioners And Researchers Working Within Face Recognition And Other Biometrics. Also Instructors Can Use The Book As A Textbook Or Supplementary Reading Material For Graduate Courses On Biometric Recognition, Human Perception, Computer Vision, Or Other Relevant Seminars. Fundamentals, Preliminaries And Reviews -- Fundamentals -- Preliminaries And Reviews -- Face Recognition Under Variations -- Symmetric Shape From Shading -- Generalized Photometric Stereo -- Illuminating Light Field -- Facial Aging -- Face Recognition Via Kernel Learning -- Probabilistic Distances In Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space -- Matrix-based Kernel Subspace Analysis -- Face Tracking And Recognition From Videos -- Adaptive Visual Tracking -- Simultaneous Tracking And Recognition -- Probabilistic Identity Characterization -- Summary And Future Research Directions -- Summary And Future Research Directions. By Shaohua Kevin Zhou, Rama Chellappa, Wenyi Zhao.

Biometrics such as fingerprint, face, gait, iris, voice and signature, recognizes one's identity using his/her physiological or behavioral characteristics. Among these biometric signs, fingerprint has been researched the longest period of time, and shows the most promising future in real-world applications. However, because of the complex distortions among the different impressions of the same finger, fingerprint recognition is still a challenging problem.

Computational Algorithms for Fingerprint Recognition presents an entire range of novel computational algorithms for fingerprint recognition. These include feature extraction, indexing, matching, classification, and performance prediction/validation methods, which have been compared with state-of-art algorithms and found to be effective and efficient on real-world data. All the algorithms have been evaluated on NIST-4 database from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Specific algorithms addressed include:
-Learned template based minutiae extraction algorithm,
-Triplets of minutiae based fingerprint indexing algorithm,
-Genetic algorithm based fingerprint matching algorithm,
-Genetic programming based feature learning algorithm for fingerprint classification,
-Comparison of classification and indexing based approaches for identification,
-Fundamental fingerprint matching performance prediction analysis and its validation.

Computational Algorithms for Fingerprint Recognition is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners in industry. This book is also suitable as a secondary text for graduate-level students in computer science and engineering.

Computer vision algorithms for the analysis of video data are obtained from a camera aimed at the user of an interactive system. It is potentially useful to enhance the interface between users and machines. These image sequences provide information from which machines can identify and keep track of their users, recognize their facial expressions and gestures, and complement other forms of human-computer interfaces.

Facial Analysis from Continuous Video with Applications to Human-Computer Interfaces presents a learning technique based on information-theoretic discrimination which is used to construct face and facial feature detectors. This book also describes a real-time system for face and facial feature detection and tracking in continuous video. Finally, this book presents a probabilistic framework for embedded face and facial expression recognition from image sequences.

biometrics Now Affect Many People's Lives, And Is The Focus Of Much Academic Research And Commercial Development. Gait Is One Of The Most Recent Biometrics, With Its Own Unique Advantages. Gait Recognizes People By The Way They Walk And Run, Analyzes Movement, which In Turn Implies Analyzing Sequences Of Images.

this Professional Book Introduces Developments From The Laboratories Of Very Distinguished Researchers Within This Relatively New Area Of Biometrics And Clearly Establishes Human Gait As A Biometric. Human Identification Based On Gait Provides A Snapshot Of All The Biometric Work In Human Identification By Gait (all Major Centers For Research Are Indicated In This Book). To Complete The Picture, Studies Are Included From Medicine, Psychology And Other Areas Wherein We Find Not Only Justification For The Use Of Gait As A Biometric, But Also Pointers To Techniques And To Analysis.

This book is also suitable as a secondary text for graduate-level students in computer science Human Identification Based on Gait is the first book to address gait as a biometric. Biometrics is now in a unique position where it affects most people`s lives. This is especially true of "gait", which is one of the most recent biometrics. Recognizing people by the way they walk and run implies analyzing movement which, in turn, implies analyzing sequences of images, thus requiring memory and computational performance that became available only recently. Human Identification Based on Gait introduces developments from distinguished researchers within this relatively new area of biometrics. This book clearly establishes how human gait is biometric. Human Identification Based on Gait is structured to meet the needs of professionals in industry, as well as advanced-level students in computer science.
