The Lost Years (CH)

Cornwall, 1914: Nineteen-year-old Perys Tremayne arrives at St Austell to stay with relatives at Heligan House, hoping to use his family connections to start a military career. Perys is a Tremayne, but only just: his illegitimacy brought disgrace to the family. The Tremaynes of Heligan are distant relatives, and remain so. His cousin Edward takes an instant dislike to Perys, and uses his influence to dash any hopes of his becoming an officer. Perys finds favour and friendship with the servants and locals. But just when his relationship with farm girl Annie Bray promises to flourish into romance, war breaks out and he leaves to join the Royal Flying Corps ..
