Overview: In Regency England, the lives of young ladies of quality followed very predictable paths--from the schoolroom to the ballrooms of the town to the bedroom of a titled gentleman. A proper education included all the things a lady would need to know to run her husband's household. At Miss Markham's School of Decorum and Deportment, however, we meet six girls who refuse to meekly follow their proscribed paths. In Regency England, young ladies followed predictable paths.
