Covenant (The Controller #1)

PART ONE of the Controller series finds businessman Richard Sinclair, decided to trade the business world for the arena of politics-specifically the office of President of the United States. Unbeknownst to him there was a force working behind the scenes to ensure his victory. A wealthy recluse-via the use of bribery, coercion, and murder-had exerted his influence over such factions as the labor unions. After his inauguration, the new president was contacted by a mysterious man calling himself Controller. Controller, when faced with resistance from Sinclair, convinced the president that failure to cooperate would prove hazardous to his family. The president listened to Controller as he outlined his plans to bring peace to the world, eliminate starvation, and abolish disease. Sinclair believed Controller wanted what was best for mankind, and began a cooperative effort with him to make their projects a success. Over the course of two terms, Controller and the president accomplished all their goals. Controller revealed to Sinclair that he was in control of a newly formed world government and an election would be but a mere formality-assuming Sinclair wanted to serve as the first president. Firmly committed to his new office, and looking forward to uniting the nations of the world in a state of peace and prosperity, Sinclair learns of Controller's true agenda.
