دربارهٔ کتاب

I gained access to this book free, via the sponsor of our non-profit's first year of operations, or I would not have bought it. It must certainly be in the library of any university or college with ambitions to educate those who will lead the next wave moving us toward Web 3.0 and Web 4.0. It is however reasonably priced and I recommend it for both library acquisition and deep reader purchase. The publisher has been responsible about posting useful information (see inside the book, the second active link below the cover on this page) so I urge anyone asking that this work be acquired, at this price, print and attach the table of contents to their requisition. The book is very well-organized with ample white space and excellent illustrative graphics and figures. I particularly liked the positioning of the references at the end of each chapter rather than grouped at the end.The other books being read by our senior "working" technologist include:A New Ecology Perspective by Sven Jergensen et al (Elsevier, not on Amazon that I can find)Information Visualization: Beyond the HorizonHandbook of Data Visualization (Springer Handbooks of Computational Statistics) (Springer Handbooks of Computational Statistics)Most of what we are reading these days are research reports that are outrageously priced and really should be affordable books and also free online, but most authors are too willing to give away their intellectual property for a pittance at tis time. Personally, I am betting on humans linked with low cost information sharing and group sense-making tools, and I am NOT holding my breath for automated fusion, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or machine sense-making.See the image I have loaded under book cover for a sense of the nuances Earth Intelligence Network is exploring. Ad hoc mobile wireless networks have seen increased adaptation in a variety of disciplines because they can be deployed with simple infrastructures and virtually no central administration. In particular, the development of ad hoc wireless and sensor networks provides tremendous opportunities in areas including disaster recovery, defense, health care, and industrial environments. Ad Hoc Mobile Wireless Networks: Principles, Protocols and Applications explains the concepts, mechanisms, design, and performance of these systems. It presents in-depth explanations of the latest wireless technologies, including Bluetooth, IrDA, HomeRF, WiFi, WiMAx, wireless Internet, and the mobile IP. The book begins with a focus on ad hoc wireless networks and MAC protocols, discussing the issues of collision resolution, multiple channels, and the use of directional antennas. It continues with a preview of the numerous practical applications of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and describes how these applications involve different scenarios dependent on the environment and nature of participant interactions. The authors address the trials of bringing Quality of Service (QoS) support to MANETs and the common difficulties associated with that task, which include mobility, limited bandwidth, and power consumption. Every chapter provides relevant examples and problems to illustrate each concept. Communication between various devices makes it possible to provide unique and innovative services. Although ad hoc systems are very powerful mechanisms, they are also quite complex. This masterful resource demystifies these complexities with detailed accounts of the technologies, applications, and challenges related to this influential technology.

Wireless communications are based on the launching, propagation, and detection of electromagnetic waves emitted primarily at radio or microwave frequencies. Their history can be traced back to the mid-19th century when James Clerk Maxwell formulated the basic laws of electromagnetism and Heinrich Hertz demonstrated the propagation of radio waves across his laboratory. Recent engineering breakthroughs have led to wireless communication systems that have not only revolutionized modern lifestyles, but have also launched new industries.

Based on the author's course in the physics of wireless communications, Physical Principles of Wireless Communications provides students with a solid foundation in modern wireless communication systems. It offers rigorous analyses of the devices and physical mechanisms that constitute the physical layers of these systems. Starting with a review of Maxwell's equations, the textbook details the operation of antennas and antenna arrays, teaching students how to perform the necessary design calculations. It also explores the propagation of electromagnetic waves, leading to important descriptions of mean path loss.

The text also reviews the principles of probability theory, enabling students to calculate the margins that must be allowed to account for statistical variation in path loss. In addition, it covers the physics of Geostationary Earth Orbiting (GEO) satellites and Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellites so students may evaluate and make first-order designs of satellite communications (SATCOM) systems.

An organization’s employees are often more intimate with its computer system than anyone else. Many also have access to sensitive information regarding the company and its customers. This makes employees prime candidates for sabotaging a system if they become disgruntled or for selling privileged information if they become greedy. Insider Computer Fraud: An In-depth Framework for Detecting and Defending against Insider IT Attacks presents the methods, safeguards, and techniques that help protect an organization from insider computer fraud.

Drawing from the author’s vast experience assessing the adequacy of IT security for the banking and securities industries, the book presents a practical framework for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling the risks associated with insider threats. It not only provides an analysis of application or system-related risks, it demonstrates the interrelationships that exist between an application and the IT infrastructure components it uses to transmit, process, and store sensitive data. The author also examines the symbiotic relationship between the risks, controls, threats, and action plans that should be deployed to enhance the overall information security governance processes.

Increasing the awareness and understanding necessary to effectively manage the risks and controls associated with an insider threat, this book is an invaluable resource for those interested in attaining sound and best practices over the risk management process.

To successfully compete in todays global marketplace, organizations can and must do more to improve their internal operational efficiencies. Operational Using Lean Six Sigma to Translate Customer Value through Global Supply Chains consolidates hundreds of tools and methods into 110 key concepts designed to translate the voice of the customer throughout global supply chains, dramatically improving productivity and shareholder economic value added (EVA). Recognizing failure is often self-induced through poor leadership coupled with an inability to form and effectively execute a strategic vision, this book operates from three premises A Practical Tool for Real World Application For organizations seeking a source for improving manufacturing and service operations, this bookeffectively delivers. Divided into 5 successive sections, it begins with adaptation strategies for global competitiveness, then delves into implementations to enhance productivity while targeting customer needs and value expectations. Finally, the author explains how to establish information-sharing throughout global supply chains, along with the role of IT. A useful tool for real world application, the volumes 20 chapters also contain more than 450 figures and roadmaps. As organizations understand the interrelationships of the supply chains, their operational systems will excel at meeting or exceeding customer expectations in this age of globalization.

semantic Webs Promise To Revolutionize The Way Computers Find And Integrate Data Over The Internet. They Will Allow Web Agents To Share And Reuse Data Across Applications, Enterprises, And Community Boundaries. However, This Improved Accessibility Poses A Greater Threat Of Unauthorized Access, Which Could Lead To The Malicious Corruption Of Information. building Trustworthy Semantic Webs Addresses The Urgent Demand For The Development Of Effective Mechanisms That Will Protect And Secure Semantic Webs.
design Flexible Security Policies To Improve Efficiency
securing Semantic Webs Involves The Formation Of Policies That Will Dictate What Type Of Access Web Agents Are Allowed. This Text Provides The Tools Needed To Engineer These Policies And Secure Individual Components Of The Semantic Web, Such As Xml, Rdf, And Owl. It Also Examines How To Control Unauthorized Inferences On The Semantic Web. Since This Technology Is Not Fully Realized, The Book Emphasizes The Importance Of Integrating Security Features Into Semantic Webs At The Onset Of Their Development.
through Its Expansive Coverage, building Trustworthy Semantic Webs Describes How The Creation Of Semantic Security Standards Will Ensure The Dependability Of Semantic Webs. It Provides Web Developers With The Tools They Need To Protect Sensitive Information And Guarantee The Success Of Semantic Web Applications.
